Our senior Business & Marketing majors joined @GLAM4GOOD Founder & CEO Mary Alice Stephenson for a masterclass breaking down the full rundown of their pop-up events. 🛍️✨ For the first time, students will take full ownership of our annual Glam4Good pop-up shop, focusing on branding, marketing, and community intentions. Students shared drafted event posters and received feedback, learned alongside GLAM4GOOD members, Morgan Kelly and Will Roan, and were gifted exclusive Ulta Beauty kits by Advisory Board member Erica Roseman, with 100% of proceeds supporting Glam4Good. We are incredibly excited to see this collaboration come to life and to watch our students lead this initiative! ⭐️

Physics in full swing! 🎡💿 Our scholars at HSFI took it to the turntables this week to investigate the science of Uniform Circular Motion with oldies from Saturday Night Fever to the Beatles!

Students explored how radius affects tangential velocity—proving that the further you are from the center, the faster you’ve got to move to keep up! 🏃💨 We also tested the limits of static friction to see exactly when centripetal force just isn't enough to keep things on track. 🎢

From calculating frequencies in Hertz to graphing centripetal acceleration, our students are spinning data into knowledge! 📊✨

This week our science students applied chemistry concepts to create a homemade sugar scrub.

They investigated the role of each ingredient (sugar, oil, and essential oils) and related them to physical properties such as solubility, polarity, and particle size. Students observed physical changes and explained how intermolecular forces influenced the texture and effectiveness of the scrub. This lab helped students connect abstract chemistry concepts to everyday products, showing how chemical products directly impact real world design and function.

Youth Leader Spotlight - Gabriella Nunez

My name is Gabriella, but you can always call me Gabby for short. This is actually my first year as a youth leader and I chose to become one because I always love to support and help people in many ways! I understand that the beginning of high school may be hard for many freshmen getting used to this big school. So I chose to be a youth leader to help navigate them throughout their first year and be someone they can rely on for help and guidance in this new environment! My favorite part of this program is engaging and creating a fun environment for my students and learning all their different personalities and creating a connected bond within the whole class.

One this I love about HSFI is the amount of diversity and people! HSFI has taught me about many different cultures, backgrounds, and traditions that I wasn’t knowledgeable of. This helped me better understand many people and their backgrounds since many people here are all different and unique in many ways. Those ways can also be culture, personality, dress style, and academically. Even though this school is very diverse, theres many people so you’ll always find someone or many people that are more similar to you than you think! A great way to find someone or people is by joining clubs and sports to find people with the same interests and that helped me meet many amazing people throughout my 3 years at HSFI!!

As a part of the HSFI community, I participate in many programs! Besides being a youth leader, I’m a Fashion major and had the amazing opportunity to be in Mr. Centeno’s Honors Bridal class and made it as a finalist so I’m looking forward to that currently!! I play on the Girls Varsity Volleyball team as well as a club team outside of the school! This year I’m becoming a manger for the Boys Varsity Volleyball team as well! Last year i played on the Varsity Softball team with many of my friends and hoping to continue this year! Thank you so much HSFI for providing these endless opportunities and amazing memories with everyone here!!

The Lady Falcons are ready for the second half of the season. They have played excellently and improved with each game. The more they play together, the better they get. The no-quit attitude and work ethic these ladies have shown this season has been marvelous. Keep up the great work ladies!

Club Fashion With A Purpose and Ms. David engaged in teaching Fashion Skills to Middle School students from South Bronx Prep and Mott Haven Charter. The "T" Shirt designs entitled "Peace" is a play on how to apply social justice messages onto original design concepts. This special collaboration was made possible by our admissions team Ms. Moreira and Assistant Principal Ms. Silva.
