The Yoga and Health Professions Clubs recently collaborated to provide our students with a session focused on yoga, meditation and mindfulness. This experience emphasized the role of self-awareness, balance, and stress management in personal wellness and future healthcare careers. It was a reminder than caring for others starts with caring for yourself.

Come join us at the Yoga Club, every Wednesday, from 4-5pm in room 743.

Students exploring the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on a guided tour, where they also visited the special exhibit “Syncopated Stages: Black Disruptions to the Great White Way.” It was a great cultural experience that connects to the diverse histories and artistic influences discussed in class.

Learning Goes Vertical in Ms. Goldstein’s and Ms. Klepacki’s classroom!

Today’s lesson brought math to life as students worked vertically around the room, sharing ideas and building understanding together. In small groups, they analyzed distance graphs to interpret motion, identify key features such as slope and intercepts, and connect those features to meaning in context. Students used function notation to clearly describe relationships between variables, explaining how changes in the input affected the output. As they debated strategies, asked clarifying questions, and revised their work in real time, students demonstrated perseverance, collaboration, and strong mathematical reasoning. This vertical work structure encouraged accountability, rich discussion, and multiple solution paths, helping every student actively engage in making sense of functions.

During our Monday club sessions over the past three weeks, we've been crafting Greek mythology-themed bead bracelets. Each bead color represents a different god or goddess, allowing us to wear symbols of the ancient pantheon. For example, like gold beads for Zeus, sea blue for Poseidon, silver for Artemis, etc.

Creativity is everywhere at HSFI, and these lockers are proof! Decorated by 10th grader Fatou Mbaye, they add color, personality, and joy to our hallways. Fatou has designed and wrapped multiple lockers at the request of her friends, and her artwork helps our building shine a little brighter every single day!
