Last Week HSFI Students attended the Time 2000 Math Conference at Queens College. Students participated in various workshops . Two HSFI math teachers, Ms. LaTanza and Ms. Dye also served as presenters sharing the work of their Geometric Design course!








This week students had the amazing opportunity to participate in hands-on activities at Finishing Trades Institute of New York's Apprenticeship Week, learning about:
-Structural and Steel Bridge painting
-Glaziers
-Metal Polishers
-Painter
-Drywall Taper









A look into Ms. Zubrovich's Advanced Illustration class, which has been working on a dualities portrait project.


Our art & design 10th-grade students worked in teams of 3 to design Instagram content for the Blick Art Supplies Chelsea location. Two designs have been chosen. Swipe to see one of the amazing designs!


Art & design sophomore students try out new surrealist games every day where they can experiment with chance in their hand-made dream journals. Last month, the students participated in the "Reinventing Reality" game where two magazines are blindly chosen and made into one collage.


Ms. Rabiner's senior portfolio class took a trip to the MET where they participated in a guided tour and scavenger hunt through the galleries.


Freshman students completed their Visual Presentation unit, designing a clothing line and showcasing it in a store window. Take a look at how a student who made a raccoon-inspired theme set up their window model.

Ms. Rabiner's students were tasked to envision the future through a science fiction lens to create a one or two-point perspective landscape.


The Fall 2024 Workplace Challenge kicked off with senior graphic design students meeting with their client, the Meatpacking District, and begin talking about the upcoming project.


Collage artist and HSFI Industry Art Show panelist, James Gallagher, led a collage masterclass for our senior Art & Design students.

Our Earth and Space Science students discovering relationships between star characteristics by analyzing real data about stars and placing them on a luminosity vs temperature graph
