On April 23, the Health Professions Club hosted a hands-only CPR and AED training session in collaboration with the FDNY. The workshop, held in the Principal’s Conference Room, brought together students eager to learn essential emergency response skills in a hands-on, engaging environment.
Led by experienced FDNY personnel, the session focused on teaching students how to respond effectively during cardiac emergencies. Participants practiced chest compressions and learned how to properly use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), gaining confidence in their ability to act quickly in critical situations. While the training was non-certified, it provided invaluable real-world knowledge that could help save lives.

The event reflects the Health Professions Club’s continued commitment to promoting health education and preparedness within the HSFI community. By partnering with professionals on the front lines of emergency response, the club aims to equip students with practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Students who attended described the session as both informative and empowering, highlighting the importance of being prepared to assist others during emergencies. With strong participation and positive feedback, the workshop marked another successful step in fostering a culture of awareness, responsibility, and community care.
