At HSFI, our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our community goes hand in hand with protecting the environment we all share. Since September 2025, our students and staff have come together in a powerful way—collecting and responsibly surrendering nearly 45 pounds of used batteries for safe disposal.
Why does this matter? Batteries contain hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and lithium that can leak into soil and water if not disposed of properly. This can harm wildlife, pollute ecosystems, and even pose risks to human health. By ensuring these materials are handled safely, we’re actively reducing environmental damage and making our community a cleaner, safer place.
This annual effort is more than just a collection—it’s a reflection of what we can achieve together. Through awareness, teamwork, and shared responsibility, the HSFI community continues to turn small actions into meaningful impact.
Let’s keep the momentum going—today and every day.
