SSA

At the High School of Fashion Industries, safety is a shared commitment—and we are proud to be supported by our dedicated NYPD School Safety Agents (SSAs).

Under the guidance of Level 3 Rayshell Williams, our team of four SSAs--Christopher Robinson, Gemma Dunbar, Shanique Edwards, and Shanique Wilson, play an essential role in creating a safe, structured environment where students and staff can thrive. School Safety Agents focus on prevention, awareness, and rapid response, helping everyone in our school community learn and work with peace of mind. Here’s a closer look at the vital work they do:

🔹 Securing our building – Monitoring entrances, checking IDs, and ensuring only authorized individuals enter.
🔹 Maintaining safe spaces – Supervising hallways, cafeterias, and common areas to prevent conflicts and promote order.
🔹 Responding when it matters most – Trained to de-escalate situations and act quickly in emergencies.
🔹 Supporting emergency readiness – Assisting with drills and implementing safety procedures when needed.
🔹 Documenting and communicating – Reporting concerns and collaborating closely with Principal Blank and his leadership team.
🔹 Building strong relationships – Connecting with students and staff to foster trust, respect, and a positive school climate.

It’s important to note: SSAs are not disciplinarians or instructional staff--their focus is purely on safety and security, in partnership with the NYPD School Safety Division.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our School Safety Agents for their professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering dedication to keeping our school community safe every day.
