Taking college classes while still in high school might be one of the best opportunities students can take advantage of—especially when it’s completely free through City University of New York (CUNY)!

Through partnerships with Baruch College, Hunter College, and City College of New York, students can enroll in College Now programs and experience real college-level learning. You’ll sit in college classes, learn from professors, and explore subjects in a deeper, more independent way.

One of the biggest benefits? Earning college credit early—a huge head start. These credits can save time, reduce future college costs, and since the classes are free, it’s truly a win-win.

Beyond academics, students build essential skills like time management, note-taking, and self-advocacy. You’ll learn how to follow a syllabus, participate in discussions, and take ownership of your learning—just like in college.

Not sure what you want to major in yet? These courses are a great way to explore your interests—whether it’s psychology, business, writing, or science.

And don’t forget how valuable this looks on college applications. It shows motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to challenge yourself, and it may even allow you to transfer credits to many colleges.

College-level classes through CUNY are more than just courses—they’re an opportunity to grow, explore, and get a head start on your future.

HSFI students, be sure to check your email and Jupiter messages regularly so you don’t miss important College Now updates, including deadlines, workshops, and informational sessions.
