NYC has a poster contest to showcase students' civic engagement and artistic talent by participating in the seventh annual New York City Public Schools Civics for All Poster Contest. The High School of Fashion Industries tenth grade graphic design classes make this an annual project. The nine posters displayed where chosen as the best in their respective classes. The posters are displayed in the lobby, while students from all grade vote to see which poster will represent HSFI in the city finals. The students used rank choice voting to determine winning poster.
This year's theme revolved around the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Students focused on the sub-themes of A Story for Today and American Value Tensions.
A Story For Today
America’s history includes many events that continue to shape our nation. Some of the stories of these past moments feel especially important to hear right now. Which story from America’s history do you think we most need to hear today?

American Value Tensions
There are perennial debates and tensions around our shared values that began at the founding of our nation and have yet to be resolved. These tensions can be framed as questions: What is the right balance between individual freedoms and collective responsibilities? What does “justice for all” look like?

The winner will be announced next week in our FAB news.
