The Restorative Justice Youth Leaders recently facilitated a community-building Circle with the Lume! Dance Team, creating a space for reflection, collaboration, and shared purpose. The Circle focused on strengthening team culture by giving all members an opportunity to contribute their voices in a respectful and inclusive environment.
During the session, team members worked together to identify core values that matter most to them as individuals and as a team. Through guided discussion and active listening, dancers shared perspectives on trust, accountability, communication, and mutual respect. These conversations led to the development of team agreements designed to support a positive, affirming, and goal-oriented culture.
The Circle encouraged openness and connection, allowing dancers to better understand one another and recognize the importance of shared responsibility in maintaining a supportive team dynamic. By participating in this restorative process, team members were empowered to take ownership of the environment they want to create—both in rehearsals and during performances.
The Restorative Justice Youth Leaders’ facilitation helped reinforce the idea that strong teams are built on clear expectations, respectful relationships, and collective commitment. The Lume! Dance Team now moves forward with a set of shared values and agreements that will guide their work and strengthen their sense of unity throughout the season.
This collaboration highlights the continued impact of restorative practices in building community, fostering leadership, and promoting positive relationships across school activities.
