In our Work Hard Success-Skills first meeting, we built community through icebreakers and reviewed what was worked on last year! Then, we narrowed our focus to Jupiter Grades and how we can get students to be more aware of their progress in school. We came up with ways that could help students establish a routine of logging into Jupiter Ed. The aim here was to achieve a space at HSFI where students would know where they stood in all of their classes, and make an effort to improve their grades. We all left the meeting with an intention to collect data and get a step forward in closing that gap.
Going into the second meeting, we discussed the data that was collected and concluded that the issue was students not knowing their grades. We solved this matter by issuing an email that will include any grade a student has that’s below 90% or any missing assignments. Our new aim is to find a way that will motivate students to improve their grades and engage in their classwork. This is an ongoing process that we are excited to collect more data for and to continue working on between our sessions!
