The English Language Arts Department at the High School of Fashion Industries is excited to announce a full curriculum makeover designed to better support the needs, talents, and ambitions of our students. This year, HSFI is blending the rigorous, discussion-based FishTank Learning curriculum with the unique success skills essential to our community—fashion-focused literacy, industry communication, and social-emotional learning. FishTank Learning is a high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum built around rich texts, analytical writing, and student-centered discourse. By integrating it with HSFI’s signature emphasis on creativity, reflection, and career readiness, the ELA department is creating an experience that is both academically challenging and deeply connected to students’ futures.
As a Career and Technical Education (CTE) school, HSFI prepares students for competitive pathways in fashion design, business, visual arts, and related industries. The new blended curriculum ensures students are not only meeting state standards but also developing real-world competencies such as collaboration, portfolio writing, problem-solving, and professional storytelling. Through this curriculum redesign, the ELA Department is committed to empowering HSFI students to excel as readers, thinkers, creators, and innovators—both in the classroom and in the fashion world beyond it.
