Guided tour

Students in the Drama program at the High School of Fashion Industries (HSFI) recently attended a special performance of Ragtime, an outing that showcased the school’s commitment to providing rich cultural and artistic opportunities. As part of their coursework, students study character development, staging, and storytelling; seeing a Broadway-caliber production brought those lessons to life in real time. After the show, students reflected on themes of identity, ambition, and social change—conversations that deepened their understanding of performance as both an art form and a tool for expression. They also attended the New York Public Library of the Performing Arts on a guided tour, including checking out the special exhibit called Syncopated Stages: Black Disruptions to the Great White Way.

Experiences like this are an example of the school’s dedication to nurturing creativity beyond the classroom. HSFI’s Drama program offers students access to professional performances, workshop opportunities, and hands-on theater training that builds confidence, communication skills, and artistic vision. Whether students dream of the stage, the fashion runway, or any creative field, HSFI provides a learning environment where young artists are encouraged to explore, take risks, and grow.
