Be an Effective Communicator Group 2

In our first Be an Effective Communicator Group 2 meeting of the year, we started with introductions and a discussion about goals. The first 30 minutes of the meeting was about getting to know each other, including introductions.

Following the introductions, both staff and students participated in the opening activity. We wrote messages about why we are here, why everyone chose this team, and what is important about communication on sticky notes. We took time to share both with students and staff, and then leadership read them aloud to the group.

Next, we ran through some individual thought exercises about what HSFI would look like with communication skills and without. Again, we wrote our thoughts on post-it notes and then shared them aloud as a group. This was the bulk of our meeting, so that we could really understand why we are here and how we can best use our skills.

Finally, we discussed what we want to do moving forward. This included sharing ideas about creating a communication bulletin board and about connecting with graphic design classes about making success skills posters. We brainstormed locations and ideas and shared contact information.
