A Day Immersed in Art at the Metropolitan Museum !

Ms. Z’s senior portfolio class spent a full day exploring art at the Metropolitan Museum. The students got to see the artworks they had researched up close, and they also took part in a session with a museum educator who discussed pieces connected to their upcoming art projects. Experiencing these artworks in person made the day truly inspiring.

Symbolic printmaking !

In Ms. V. Chan’s class, sophomore Materials and Techniques students learned about symbolic printmaking. They created their own designs, carved their plates, and made several prints. Throughout the process, they practiced HSFI Success Skills being creative, working hard, staying dependable, and being responsible in the studio. Their craftsmanship and the meaningful stories they told through symbolism were truly impressive.

Re-Contextualizing Art !

In Ms. V. Chan’s class, our art and design seniors are creating a Re-Contextualizing Art project. They are taking their own still life drawings or self-portrait paintings and transforming them in the style of a chosen artist or art movement. This assignment helps them practice the Success Skill Be a Constructive Problem Solver, as they make creative choices, rethink their work, and reflect on the challenges they face and how they solve them.
