Student-Staff Improvement Team Hard at Work!

At HSFI, we believe that student voice and involvement is a must. This is why a major goal of our 2025-2026 school year is to have students involved with our staff in community improvement. Part of our mission is our commitment to developing skills with our students that lead to success in high school, work, college and life. These skills are known as Success Skills and in keeping with our belief that student voice is important we have developed 15 Student-Staff Improvement Teams!

We have identified these Success Skills at HSFI as:

  • Be KIND

  • Be CREATIVE

  • Be an effective COMMUNICATOR

  • Be a constructive PROBLEM-SOLVER

  • WORK HARD

  • Be DEPENDABLE

  • Embrace TECHNOLOGY

  • Be an INFORMED and CONTRIBUTING member of society

We use these skills as a common language in helping our students better understand the relationship between what they do in school and their road ahead. This is essential to keep students motivated and engaged.

In these Student-Staff Improvement Teams, student leaders, helped by a staff co-lead, lead a team of several volunteer students and staff to brainstorm ways to “Fashionize” a specific Success Skill. In other words, they work on how to make it unique to our school community and come up with pilot programs for implementing this “Fashioinization” into our everyday school life. The teams work collaboratively by questioning what they see in the school community, brainstorming ideas for change, and working to actually implement the changes they come up with!

As the school year continues, so does our continuous Student-Staff Improvement work at HSFI!
