Join Our Buddy Program!

The transition to high school from middle school can be an overwhelming experience. Trying to begin high school this year will be more challenging than ever since virtual learning will replace many of our face-to-face interactions in the building. That is why we need your help to support and welcome this year's incoming group of freshmen by joining our Buddy Program.

Make this year fulfilling by serving as a mentor in our Freshmen Buddy Program!

Apply here today:

Why should you join?

  • Helping others makes you happier - it’s proven by science! Research shows helping others can improve both your physical and mental health.

  • Build your confidence as a leader! We believe strongly that the best connections are built when students learn from one another. Educating others can help you improve your public speaking skills and give you more confidence.

  • Strengthen your college or job resume! Serving as a mentor can help to make your application stand out. Many colleges and workplaces seek out applicants who contribute to building their community which is why they look for students who show initiative in being involved!

How do I sign up?

  1. Complete the survey found: The application is very short – your name, your OSIS number, your grade and answering one question – Why do you want to be a mentor?

  2. Once you fill out an application, the SEL team will be in touch with you about whether you were accepted into the program and next steps.

How do I participate in the Buddy Program this year?

Each year the Buddy Program has evolved based on student feedback and we continually try to improve the experience of both mentors and mentees. Since most of our meetings will be virtually this year, we have used your feedback from the last year to revise the set up of our Buddy Program with "Buddy Pods".

The year’s Buddy program would:

  • Match a small group of 4-6 students upperclassmen with a group of 8-12 freshmen.

  • Designate a set time for students to meet virtually as a group and complete that week’s activity. Examples of activities include facilitating a discussion, leading virtual games, watching video clips and answering questions. There will be freedom in choosing activities as a group and you can propose new activities as well!

  • Reward all participants with a variety of raffle prizes, free virtual events and in-school privileges.

Please consider volunteering so we can give this year’s freshmen class a warm welcome into our Fashion Family!

Again, the application can be found here:

Thank you!
