This is our newest major at HSFI and is in partnership with the NYC Department of Education initiative called FutureReadyNYC. Students in this major can go from no experience to advanced computer science skills that focus on learning Python, Snap!, Pyret, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Software Development majors are able to showcase various passions, whether it is art, design, writing, coding, or business through developing how they express themselves as a software developer. Students in this major are eligible for the Career Ready Modern Youth Apprenticeship program which places students in a three year apprenticeship program with various IT companies around the city. Additionally 10th grade students earn AP credit and 11th grade students take the Industry level NOCTI Web Development exam. Students can also earn various industry certifications based on their interests throughout their time in the major.
