Who is eligible to apply?
All current NYC residents that are currently 8th and first-time 9th-grade students.

What are the criteria for admissions?
All students interested in applying to Fashion Industries for possible admission for the upcoming fall must fill out an NYC High School application and take the admissions exam.
Students are selected based on the following criteria:

When does the admissions process take place?
One academic year prior to possible entrance.
For example: All participants in the 2021-2022 admissions process are applying for possible admission for

When will the admissions examinations take place for possible fall 2020 admissions?
Audition Information:
All students can audition for the High School of Fashion Industries in 1 of 2 ways:
Choice #1 - Submit an online audition by visiting the school website @hsfi.nyc
or
Choice #2 - Audition in person

Where do I get an NYC High School application in order to apply to Fashion?
NYC High School applications are available in the guidance office of the prospective applicant's current school. All public and private NYC guidance counselors have access to the NYC High School Application.
***In order for a student's audition to be valid, a high school application must be submitted in their name listing Fashion Industries as one of their choices.

What do I need to bring for my audition date?
You will need to bring the following for the day of the audition:
a) Two no. 2 pencils to take the admissions exam.
b) Your portfolio. Please refer to our portfolio requirements for further insight on on how to create a well-developed portfolio for the day of the audition.

What is on the admissions exam?
a) Short Answer Questions
b) Essay
c) Drawing/Creative Section
d) Spanish Proficiency Questions (to determine foreign language placement in the fall if matched to our school)
8.
Will I have a full academic program along with my career and technical educational classes?
Yes, absolutely! All students follow the required NYS Common Core and Regents Requirements and Career and Technical Education Curriculum in either Art, Fashion Marketing and Visual Merchandising, or Fashion Design. Majority of our students graduate with a CTE Advanced Regents Diploma.

The current graduation rate for the class of 2019 is 95 percent.

We are located in the heart of Chelsea on 24th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

The nearest train lines are:
1 train on 23rd Street and the corner of 7th Avenue.
C and E trains on 23rd Street and the corner of 8th Avenue.
F train on 23rd Street and the corner of 6th Avenue.

Transportation passes are available to all students who are eligible.
14.
What types of extra-curricular activities are offered?
There are a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and PSAL sports teams to choose from as a student at Fashion.

What other special programs are offered at Fashion Industries?
Along with well structured academic classes, career and technical educational programs, and a multitude of extra-curricular activities, students can take part in our Work Based Learning and Executive Internship programs to gain hands on experience within their fields of study at Fashion Industries.
